Mynavi ABC Championship 2018

"Not a single regret" smiles Runner-up Masahiro Kawamura

All black outfit, top to bottom with a sunglass. This is Masahiro Kawamura's fighting pose on the final round. 25 years old Masahiro went for hunt after 32 years old leader on the Sunday back nine.

When Yuta bogeyed on 14th, Masahiro was 2 strokes behind. Masahiro drained the 7-meter eagle putt on the par 5 15th. But Yuta also birdies that hole and they were still 1 stroke difference. On par 3 16th, Yuta almost done a hole-in-one and made an easy birdie to take 2 shot lead. But Masahiro never gave up. He went on to birdie the 17th with the 8-meter putt.

Then the real drama came on the final 72nd hole. On the Par 5 18th, Yuta had to lay-up on his second shot. There Masahiro took the advantage and went for the green in two, which landed 2 meters to the pin. Big prize for the courageous effort, an eagle chance.

Masahiro went through a fierce battle last week and lost to Shugo Imahira, who came from 2 strokes behind. This time it was Masahiro's turn to do so. Masahiro didn't make the eagle putt, but he tapped in for birdie. Yuta had a winning birdie chance but missed it, and the battle was extended to a playoff.

The battle ended on the first playoff hole. Yuta drained a winning eagle putt and broke down in tears. Masahiro, never a sore loser, walked up and lifted Yuta's arm up to praise his competitor as the tournament champion.

"I have not a single regret."
Masahiro will fly to Spain for the EPGA Tour Final QT next month.
This week's tournament was his last game in Japan this season, he became runner-up 2 weeks in a row, but no regrets.
"I played great and so did Yuta. We have created exciting battle. We honored each other. It was a really good game."

Masahiro lost 2 weeks in a row, but he was still very positive.
"I didn't use my luck this week. That means I still have my luck saved and something great is yet to come!"
