Newly "Dad" Shaun Norris jumps up to top on the leaderboard
Shaun closed the 2nd Round with 2 strokes lead and jumped up on the top of the leaderboard.
Shaun started from tough half side of the course. He double-bogeyed the 11th, but he was smart and stuck with his patience against the nasty Okinawa ocean wind. Shaun eventually made 1 eagle and 8 birdies to rap up the round with 7 under, 65.
With all of these highlights, he refrains that par save at the 4th hole on his back nine was the key. His long-shafted putter, the dependable long-time partner, save the day by holing the 5-meter.
"That par save got me going."
Shaun is known to be a big driver, but he is choosing fairway woods and irons in times of need.
"I don't take chances and go for the difficult birdies. I try to play smart."
This is Shaun's third trip to Okinawa. He drove the rental car on his own.
"I have felt the slow and natural tempo of Okinawa people. What they call Okinawa-time."
Warm-hearted atmosphere of Okinawa suits him.
Shaun took 2 weeks off to be at the birth of to his son. Their beloved first-born son was born on 23 of October. Shaun really wanted to stay his dearest son, but daddy chose to go back to work and grab a big birthday present for his son. There are 4 more big purse tournaments left. Shaun in currently ranked 4th on the Money List.
"I have the Money Title as my goal too."
This week's first prize is at 40 million yen. Newly dad is very much motivated to show his son how great his daddy could be!
