HEIWA PGM CHAMPIONSHIP 2018

Daisuke Kataoka became a loser, but not a sore one

Continued from last week, Daisuke Kataoka has done a great battle on Sunday afternoon. Daisuke caught up to leader Shaun Norris at the closest range on 11th hole.

"It was another gusty wind today. With this tough condition, I had to concentrate shot by shot."
Daisuke managed to get in 4 meters to the pin from the sand and made the birdie putt. He also made a perfect bunker shot on 18th and grabbed a birdie. Which made Daisuke card in with total of 13 under, 1 stroke lead to Shaun.

Daisuke watched Shaun's dramatic eagle putt on TV in the club house.
"Great putt!"
Daisuke tapped his hat to the fabulous winner.
"I have done great too, and I am proud that I was in contention."

Daisuke tried out for EPGA and Asian Tours this season. Playing along the foreign players made his swing rhythm mixed up. He couldn't get back to his A game, even after he came back to the Japan Tour. His trademark "Dai-chan Smile" was gone. But with this 2nd place result, it will give him a heads up.

For 2 weeks, his dependable caddy was away with flue, so the house caddy helped Daisuke.
"House caddy was great. Helped me out in many ways. Gave me comfort and confidence while I played. I am glad that I can report to my caddy that I got my A game back. I know she was watching me on TV."

Daisuke is looking forward to pairing up with his dependable caddy at next week's venue, at Taiheiyo Gotemba.
