Dunlop Phoenix Tournament 2018

Hideki Matsuyama barely makes the Cut

Rikuya Hoshino approached Hideki at the starting hole tee ground showing his ball to double check. Rikuya and Hideki both checked their balls, and Ryo Ishikawa who was standing in between was giggling. Yesterday's "wrong ball" nightmare was now laughed away.

Hideki started out 1 over par on the 2nd Round. He wanted to give it a go, but bogeys haunted him, and he went down to 3 over par at one time.
"My condition was not good, so I was aware of the bad situation. I was afraid that I wouldn't make the cut today. I hate worrying about cutline. I came to Japan Tour to win. But the putts won't fall. I got very frustrated not making those putts."

But Hideki seemed get back his game on the 13th, where he drove the tee shot to the front edge of the green and birdied. He made birdies on 14th and 16th which made him into red numbers. He got himself to total 1 under par and made the cut.

"It could have been worse, and at the same time I think I should have made more putts. But this is the best that I could have done today. I will try to do better tomorrow to get myself in the contention."
