2nd Round ends and Shota is still in good position for the Money Title race
Shota re-started from the Par 3 13th, the best viewpoint of Mt. Fuji scenery in the course. He chose 6 iron for the tee shot, which got to the 3 meters to the pin.
"I was able to re-start in pretty good way."
Shota had 7 more holes to go before the Round 2 got suspended yesterday. But he was able to close the round with an almost eagle. On the final 18th par 5, Shota was 184 yards to the pin and he chose 6 iron for the second shot, which ended 1.5 meters to the pin. Unfortunately, Kodai Ichihara managed to make an eagle right before Shota, which sort of capped the hole. Shota couldn't make the eagle putt go in but tapped for easy birdie and ended the 2nd Round as 2 stroke leader.
After every player holed out, current Money Rank No.1 Shugo Imahira was at 3rd position, 3 strokes behind Shota. Shugo was a bit shy at the interviews, but Shugo loudly announced that he will not give up and fight tough against the Money Leader.
2nd Round was supposed to resume at 8am, but with fog and all of the bad conditions, the game got shortened to 54 holes competition. Now it is 2 weeks in a row, that the tournament was shortened to 54 holes. This make the prize money 75%. Shota is 80 million yen behind the Money Rank No.1 Shugo. This 75% is not helping.
Shota is doing pretty well this year but tomorrow will be his second time to start in final group on the final round. Last time at The Crowns, he failed to come through by playing over par and lost against Y.E. Yang.
"I will not fail again!"
18 more holes to the victory, Shota is all "go" for that Money Rank Title.
