ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP 2019
Could Hideki catch up with Tiger in remaining 6 holes?
"Everyone knows the high percentage of Tiger winning the tournament when he leads after the Round 3. But I want to make a miracle and grab the victory from him, although I couldn't perform really great today."
Hideki was 3 shots behind Tiger at the end of Round 3. He knew that Tiger is really good at running away with the victory as he leads into Final Round, so Hideki played aggressively. He made 2 birdies on 2 and 6, but at 4 and 8, his tee shots went into the trees and bogeyed. While Hideki was stumbling, Tiger made his lead wider to 5 shots at one time.
"But I was able to bounce back after the bogey. Usually I tend to lose control but with so many enthusiastic cheers, I was able to hold on. Fans helped me a lot."
Hideki made 2-meter on 11 and 8-meter on 12 for consecutive birdies, to make his deficit against Tiger back to 3 shots before he finished his play today.
Remaining holes for the Final Round will resume from 7:30 in the morning.
"I must do really well tomorrow and make lots of birdies to catch up with Tiger. I only have 6 more holes. I will do whatever I can to play well and see if I can make miracle."
Would the headline for Monday be "Hideki making a come from behind win against Tiger Woods" or "Tiger marking historical 82nd victory to tie Sam Snead"?
