ANA Open 2019

"Gen-chan" keeps his lead after Round 3 shares the Top spot with Peter Karmis

Ryuko Tokimatsu aka "Gen-chan" shares the co-leader position with Peter Karmis with 14 under total after Round 3. 38 years old Peter is originally from South Africa but has changed his nationality to gain his ticket for the Olympics. Ryuko has an aggressive rival to battle tomorrow, but he is eager to get that victory he lost 2 years ago on the playoff with his admiring hero Yuta Ikeda.

On moving Saturday, Ryuko started out with 2 shot lead. Wattsu Course is known to get tougher and tougher on the weekend, and many players struggle.
"I am satisfied that I was able to finish in red numbers for today" said Ryuko. He did have 1 bogey on the 4th, but that was the only miss he had today.
"The putt was only few mm off the line. I tried to concentrate on my golf, so I didn't look at other players and didn't see the leader board until the end."

Ryuko got himself into the playoff last year but couldn't close the deal.
"I had done stupid mistakes like hitting to the worst place on other games and lost the chance to win. I lose my mental control and then I also lose my body balance. I think it's all mental."

Ryuko has been getting the mental training from Yuta Ikeda.
"He told me to concentrate to make the satisfying shot no matter how good or bad the situation is."

This week Ryuko has the chance to give back to Yuta for all of his support by finally winning at Wattsu.
"Ryuji Masaoka is another player that I look up to and I was with Yuta and Ryuji on the practice round this week. I am so glad to be in the same final group with Ryuji tomorrow. I would really like to play my best and do a great battle with him and eventually win."
