Gunn Charoenkul Interview on British Open and other goals for this season

Q. Any hopes goals for the British Open?
A. No hopes. It's my first time playing on the links course, we don't have that in Thailand and it's going to be a good experience. Actually, we went to Northern Ireland with my wife two years ago, and the Royal Portrush was nearby and we said that, "the British Open will be held here in two years", and I was saying that "hopefully I can make it". So, we are very excited to go there.

Q. Any strategy for the Royal Portrush?
A. Playing in Japan for about a year did help me prepare for the various course, although it will much difficult at the British Open, but we will head there a week early to prepare and get use to the condition. Get few rounds in and learn how to play the links course. Hopefully find the way to overcome Portrush.

Q. Any other plans for this season?
A. Actually I have accomplished one of my goal, to keep the card at the early stage of the season, and I am having a new goal and that is to get into ZOZO Championship's top 7 qualify. The most exciting thing about the ZOZO will be having the chance to play with Tiger Woods or Brooks Koepka. I went to Jordi Fitness Center early this year and I had the chance to see Brooks from a distance. Tiger and Brooks are one of the players that I look up to, so if I can make it to ZOZO, I will be very excited.

Q. How about the President's Cup?
A. Not in my mind now. I am playing good so far, probably my best golf throughout my whole career. I always try to find the way to improve myself, so if it happens it happens. If it's time. I always try to appreciate what's coming. I never had that kind of appreciation before, but my wife taught me to appreciate what I receive. She says that many players want to be in Japan Tour but cannot, so just be happy with what you have now. I am very thankful to my super wife. She is all in one, she manages everything from tickets to hotels, she is caddy as well and a great wife.
She supports me mentally. I am always beating myself a lot, when I first started to turn Pro, always have that negative vibe on me, she always tells me to "take it easy, we all make mistakes". I would really like to take my wife to all of the Majors and WGC tournaments. It's our dream.
