Asia Pacific Open Golf Championship Diamond Cup Golf 2019
Day 2 leader, Micah Lauren Shin from US jumps up with the best score 67
"I am using new driver and putter from this week."
Micah challenged the Japan Tour last year for the first time at this tournament. He came into this year's event with a brand-new feeling.
"My putting was superb."
As he recalled, he made 6-meter on the 6th, and then on next 7th he drained the 5-meter for 2 straight birdies in his front nine.
Then in his back nine on 14th and 17th, as he stated, "bunker shots worked out well too", he got out of the trouble with no harm. Then on the final hole, he made the 7-meter birdie putt to conclude with bogey free 4 under for the day and jumped few steps to the top of the leader board.
Tall and well proportioned, many fans gathered at the charity photo shoot. He was a bit shy but gave a good smile.
"The course is beautiful, food is great, and I love Japan."
He was born and raised in US but moved to Philippines 8 years ago. Turned to Pro in 2013 and has won his first victory at 2017 Manila Masters. But unfortunate back injury slowed him down last year as he had to concentrate on the treatment cure for 4 months since June.
"I am all okay now. My driver was great today, and so was my putting. I feel confident this week."
If he could grab the win, the ticket for the Japan Tour will come along.
"I really want do well and get that chance."
He pledges to do his best alongside with his father as his caddy.
