Dunlop Phoenix Tournament 2019
2019 US Open Champion Gary Woodland is back at Dunlop Phoenix
He spoke at the press conference on Wednesday. The questions were mainly about his glorious victory at US Open. Many asked if his life has turned 180 degrees now because of the Major win, as many sponsor offers flying in and being busy with the media contacts. But his answer was different.
"The biggest and happiest thing after that Major victory was welcoming new members to our family. Soon after that win, twin baby girls were born, and now I am a father of 3 children."
He has 2 and a half year old son, and now there are 2 little sisters.
"The whole house is loaded with diapers. The house is very busy and disorganized. We are all running around in the house. Too busy and no time to sleep."
Last month after inaugural PGA Tour in Japan, ZOZO Championship, which he finished at 5th, he took 3 weeks off.
"Actually, I get to sleep better when I am away in tournaments. I getting to like tournaments" he joked that tournaments feels like "off week".
"I came to this week to win. This Phoenix CC is by the ocean side and is known to be very windy, but where I come from, Kansas, is also a windy State. The wind picks up so much above the trees and it is difficult to control the shots above the tree lines. But I am a fade hitter so, I could control my trajectory low so there is no problem. I think my game suits this course very well. I am also much better in playing stable and precise shots. Last time I was here, I only used 1W 5 times on my tee shots, but this time I plan to use it 10 times, which is quite many for me. It will depend on the weather and wind, also the pin positions, but I know I could perform very well here."
He also is in love with the Miyazaki Beef.
"I eat vegetables now, but I am a meat eater. I don't eat fish. I love meat and I heard that Miyazaki Beef is World's No.1."
Miyazaki Beef is another thing that motivates the Major winner to be back and, win in Miyazaki.
