Shugo Imahira wishes to win this week to give him a boost for US Open
Shugo has participated in online news conference on September 2nd, and said, "I waited so long for re-start of the Tour, I am looking forward for tomorrow's start. During the stay home period, I have placed much weight on my Driving Accuracy training and perfection on my short putts. We have been away from tournaments for such a long time, but I must believe myself and deliver what I have been practicing. I know my game matches this course, so I have a good feeling."
Shugo's goal for 2020-2021 season is to 3 peat his Order of Merit title, win at least 3 tournaments and play well on the US PGA Major Tournaments. In 2 weeks, US Open is coming up. Shugo declined his chance to play in The PGA Championship last month due to so many restriction due to COVID-19 circumstances. But some regulation changes were made, and as long as he takes PCR test in Japan and result Negative, he will be waivered from the isolation restrictions, so he has decided to make entry for US Open.
"I haven't been able to make a goof result overseas, especially in Majors. I have also been away from tournament actions, but I will try to adjust this week, make a great finish and be ready for the Major with a good image in my head."
Possible victory at Fujizakura CC will assure him with a good boost.
