Golf Nippon Series JT Cup 2019

Freezing day at Tokyo Yomiuri CC but Jung-Gon Hwang's warm hospitably gave warmth to all

Jung-Gon Hwang is eager to make the revenge he failed to win last year, before he leaves to the 2 years of military service back home in Korea. He was in the playoff with Ryo Ishikawa and Satoshi Kodaira last year but couldn't grab the victory.

He made consecutive birdies after making the 5-meter on 16th. On his final hole Par 3 18th, he couldn't make his 2nd shot from the left rough close enough to the pin and had 4-meter par putt to play. It was slick downhill right to left line, big pressure haunted him, but he made it to finish the round with total 4 under, 2 shots behind the leader at 3T.

Jung-Gon Hwang has been in the Japan Tour since 2011 and made 4 victories. His trademark is his John Lennon like glasses and big smile.
"I have gained so many fans saying that they will miss me. I fell that I am playing satisfying golf now, but since I have decided to go on to my duty, I would like to leave with a good state of mind. I would really like to come back and give back to those many who supports me with a great golf again."

In October, he has won at MyNavi ABC Championship and gained his 2 years Tour Card exemption, but if he could win this week, he will gain 3 years. In order to keep himself a good position after he comes back from the duty, "off course I would love to win here, but I shouldn't be too greedy which might affect my golf. I should concentrate on my golf."

Jung-Gon Hwang along with Sang-Hyun Park brought 10 boxes, approx.300 cups of home country's specialty "Hot Ramen noodles" to the course to give their thoughts of gratitude to the tournament organizers and staffs. "Hot Ramen" gave warmth to many of the staffs today working under the freezing conditions.
"It was really freezing today, so please help yourselves to Hot Ramen."
Jung-Gon Hwang's kind heart gave greater warmth to the staffs.
