Last week's winner Tomoharu Otsuki finished total 2 under in tied 7th position going onto the weekends. He started out in the afternoon on Day 2, and the windy condition was getting worse.
"I was feeling confident with the 3 birdies I made in front nine. I knew that bogey will come in these conditions, so I didn't have any bad images today."

Including his finishing hole, he made 3 bogeys and used up his birdie savings, but he was calm and steady saying "I have gained things that will pay off for tomorrow."

For the first 2 days, he was able to group up with his old university mate, Satoshi Kodaira. Satoshi praised Tomoharu for that first victory at last week's Kansai Open and also added that "Tomoharu playing so well like today, I just can't believe his first win took so much time."

Even with so many praising words by his friend, Tomoharu was humble to say "I just didn't have what it takes. Even my shots were good, I couldn't control my feelings. I needed to get used to the Tour. I finally got to that stage, and I got that first victory. I wish I could catch up with Satoshi someday. I want to challenge PGA Tour in the future."

His friend, Satoshi Kodaira will head back to USPGA right after this tournament, so Tomoharu was asking his friend's stories about life on the Tour.

The venue for this Mizuno Open, The Royal Country Club is 30 minutes' drive from Tomoharu's home. He has won the Challenge Tournament that was held at this course last year.
"Here, you must go for the pin to make the chances. Your game is tested here, and I was able to make the cut and in fairly good position, so I could say I have gotten better."

Having his first victory under his belt, and a comfortable confidence aside, he might be ready to grab his win 2 weeks in a row in his hometown.
