Golf Nippon Series JT Cup 2021

Jinichiro Kozuma starts as leader on 1R with help from trusty caddy who knows the course inside out

This week will be the second time to have the JT Cup in the prolonged 2021-22 season, and Jinichiro Kozuma is feeling really honored to be part of both games. 10th year professional won the SMBC VISA Taiheiyo Masters in November and attained the ticket to the season ending.

Jinichiro played with 6 birdies and a bogey to score 65 on 1R and became solo leader.

"My shots and putts were very accurate today."

His longest birdie putt for today was 5-meter at 2nd. Other birdies on 12th, 15th, and 17th were all within 1.5-meter.

This week's venue Tokyo Yomiuri CC is known for compacted and fast greens.

"This is my second appearance here, so I don't have much experience."

But he has great support to rely on. His coach for past 7 years who is also caddying for him, Morihiro Mori knows this course inside out since he has lesson studio nearby and always comes to the course for lessons.

"He has so much experience here. When I am indecisive, he gives me precise advice. He has great sense for reading the wind here."

This week weather is being nice and during the daytime it is really warm. But as soon as sun starts to go down, it gets really chilly. But Jinichiro insists on not wearing a lot. His outfit brand made three-quarter sleeves just for Jinichiro since he tends to roll up his sleeves when it was full length.

"I am being supported by so many. I really want to win, and I will do my best to make it happen. But it is only 1R, so I will try to build up my game one by one. I will try not to think too much about the victory, yet."
