Hideto Tanihara captures his 1st JT Cup Major title and Chan Kim crowned as Order of Merit Champion

Prolonged 2021-22 season has ended, and 43 years old Hideto Tanihara became the final winner and captured his 1st JT Cup Major title.

 

Hideto started out as solo leader, but bogey came first on his final round and it turned out to be a tough fight for Hideto as, 26 years old Tomoyo Ikemura made great charged. At one point Hideto was chasing after Tomoyo with 2 storkes deficit.

 

Hideto succeeded in regaining his leader position with 3 birdies, and made great winning par save putt on the final 18th.

"I tried to forget bad memories, but I did 3-putt for bogey last year, so it is nice to make revenge. He succeeded in paying back for the lost by 1 shot last year. I fought really hard today. I never thought that I could win a major at 43 years old, so I am really happy."

 

At the end, he had 2 shots lead and finally won the JT Cup on his 1st challenge.

 

As for the Order of Merit race, Chan Kim took away the crown by keeping the No.1 position. He is the second international player to achieve this honor following David Ishii in 1987.

 

Takumi Kanaya became No.2 with solo 3rd finish this week. Ryosuke Kinoshita who came into this week as No.2 in Money List went down 1 rank. Hideto Tanihara became No.4 and Rikuya Hoshino became No.5.
