Second-year professional Yuto Katsuragawa showed why he is a star in the making after finishing an impressive joint-runner-up and the highest-placed JGTO member at the SMBC Singapore Open.

Katsuragawa closed with a three-under-par 68 to share the second spot with Joohyung Kim on 10-under 274 and finished three strokes behind Thailand's Sadom Kaewkanjana at the Sentosa Golf Club on Sunday.

Another JGTO member Shintaro Kobayashi saved his best for last as he fired a 67 to finish a creditable tied ninth and eight shots adrift of the winner.

A bogey-free 69, his third flawless round of the week, was good enough for Sadom to capture the SMBC Singapore Open for his sixth professional title.

It's going to be one victory that Sadom would cherish for a very long time as the feat also clinched him a ticket in the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews from July 14-17.

This will mark also Sadom’s debut appearance in a major championship since he turned professional in 2018.

Sadom headed into the final round at the Sentosa Golf Club as co-leaders alongside Sihwan Kim of the United Stastes where the duo enjoyed a three-shot advantage over the chasing packs.

But thanks to Kim bogeying his first two holes of the day, Sadom swiftly secured a two-shot cushion with two pars.

He picked up a pair or birdies on holes sixth and seventh and never looked back since to end the day with a glorious 13-under.

"I’m very excited and happy to have won this tournament.

"There was a lot of pressure on me today, but I did it. A lot of hard work has gone into this victory, and I’m really pleased with myself.

"This is the first time I’ll be playing in a major and I’m really looking forward to be playing against the best players in the world in the home of golf at St Andrews," said Sadom.
