Co-sanctioned ISPS HANDA Championship postponed to 2023 but remains a domestic tournament
The inaugural ISPS HANDA Championship, the first regular tournament in history to be co-sanctioned by the JGTO and DP World Tour, will be postponed to 2023 due to the ongoing travel restrictions caused by the pandemic.
The ISPS HANDA Championship will continue as a solely sanctioned JGTO event in the same week, April 21-24, at the PGM Ishioka Golf Club in Omitama. It offers a total prize purse of 100 million yen.
The co-sanctioned ISPS HANDA Championship, which would have been the DP World Tour's first official visit to Japan, will now take place in the 2023 season.
As an added incentive for players, a qualifying tournament, "ISPS HANDA Road Tournament to Europe," will be held at the Lock Hill Golf Club Lake Course in Ibaraki Prefecture from April 6th to 8th.
Players, who could not advance from the qualifying session "JGTO Final QT" last year, will have another opportunity to do so at the tournament, with the top two players also able to earn a spot at the ISPS HANDA Championship in Japan.
