JGTO embraces new era with Discover Your Green campaign

Golf is one of the professional sports blessed with lucrative sponsorships, allowing players to earn a tidy sum of income through their participation in major tours across the planet.

And JGTO, being one of the longest-running and top-tier golf tours globally, is no exception, with thousands of home and international golfers benefitting from the prize funds offered through the tournaments on both main and secondary circuits over the years.

Even throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, JGTO had been able to hold steady, and it did not take them long to get back on their feet.

By the end of 2020, the tour was already back up and running, with the 2020 and 2021 seasons being merged into one and successfully completed.

Hence, being in a better position financially, JGTO members feel it is only appropriate for them to empower the community, even in the midst of the unprecedented challenging times caused by the pandemic.

In the spirit of giving back, JGTO launched an initiative called "Discover Your Green" (DYG) in April 2021 to promote unity and establish a vibrant society through positive energy channelled from the sport of golf.

JGTO Chairman Isao Aoki said at the time of the launch: "As a JGTO member, we were always thinking about how we can give back and make the world a better place to be.

"We are doing our utmost best to reach out to the government and related organisations and get all our tour members to be part of it."

The DYG campaign did get off to a great start, with many JGTO members taking it upon themselves to engage with the fans by providing educational support for children and energising people through social media platforms.

Several DYG interviews with players, caddies and officials had also been posted on YouTube regularly to promote the initiative.

JGTO has also been working closely with the tour members to carry out activities such as charity golf, providing support for the recovery of disasters area, cancer prevention awareness and countermeasures to Covid-19.
