New Year greetings from JGTO Chairman Isao Aoki

Happy New Year!

On behalf of the JGTO, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support and cooperation of JGTO activities throughout the past year.

Reflecting on the challenges of the previous year which was marked by the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we witnessed significant shifts in societal dynamics and lifestyles. Despite these changes, we successfully hosted 26 tour tournaments and 12 ABEMA Tour events between March and December.

This accomplishment is a testament to the incredible efforts and passion of the organizers and sponsors who supported and hosted these events. Your dedication has not gone unnoticed, and I deeply appreciate it.

The 2023 season witnessed several notable achievements. Yuta Sugiura, a fourth-year university student, secured victory in the ABEMA Tour's Dunlop Phoenix Tournament Challenge in Fukushima Prefecture, becoming the eighth amateur in ABEMA Tour history to accomplish such a feat.

Remarkably, two months later in November, Sugiura followed up with another triumph at the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament, marking the seventh instance of an amateur claiming victory in a main Tour event. This success prompted him to swiftly transition to professional status and accept JGTO membership.

Additionally, Ryo Hisatsune, a JGTO member, emerged victorious in the DP World Tour's French Open in September. His outstanding performance throughout the year earned him a spot in the 2024 PGA Tour. He also claimed the title of Rookie of the Year for the 2023 DP World Tour, showcasing remarkable growth. His journey from JGTO to the global stage serves as inspiration for our entire golfing community.

In recent years, the Tour has experienced impressive growth among young players, particularly those in their early twenties. Last year, Keita Nakashima, in his rookie season, clinched the Prize Money King title, engaging in exciting battles with second-placed Taika Semigawa and third-placed Takumi Kanaya. Amid fierce competition, victories by mid-level and veteran players added to the excitement, creating a truly captivating season.

At JGTO, we actively leverage social media to share players' accomplishments and messages, aiming to showcase the allure of the JGTO to a global audience. The overwhelming support and passionate messages received from fans worldwide highlight the positive impact of golf in fostering a sense of unity.

As we kick off the 2024 season in March, we strive to create a platform where everyone, regardless of their location, can enjoy watching players' impressive performances, feel the energy from fans' cheers, and witness players responding with dynamic displays.

As we receive even greater expectations for this year's Tour, we kindly ask for your continued support and encouragement. Thank you very much.
