JGTO Abroad: Kanaya finishes creditable tied-seventh in Oman

There was no successful title defense for Takumi Kanaya, but he certainly has every reason to smile after securing a creditable joint seventh place at the International Series Oman in Muscat.

Kanaya closed his campaign at the Al Mouj Golf on Sunday with a four-under-par 68 to finish on 11-under, eight shots back of winner Carlos Ortiz of Mexico.

This is certainly an encouraging result for Kanaya, who has endured a rough start to the new season after missing the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Malaysia Open.

In Nairobi, Rikuya Hoshino shot a final round even-par 72 to finish tied for 64th on three-under total at the Magical Kenya Open.

The winner was Darius Van Driel of the Netherlands, triumphing with 14-under.

Ryo Hisatsune, who was in action at the Mexico Open at Vidanta, came in joint 48th following a fine four-under-par 67 which took his final total to five-under 279.

Overnight leader Jake Knapp emerged victorious after compiling a 19-under overall.
