ANA Open 2019
Ryo Ishikawa had frustrating rough day on Round 1 at ANA Open
"Most of my shots were all miss shots. Only good ones were the last 2 shots. I had really difficult round today and I am very frustrated and displeased."
As Ryo recalled, his only super shot of the round was at 5th hole where he shot from inside the right-side trees. He had 205 yards remain and stuck it 4-meter to the pin and made an eagle.
Strong wind velocity of 6.4 meter and cool temperature of Hokkaido had worn Ryo out.
"My body felt heavy and tight. My clubs felt really heavy too, but I still wanted to drive it far, so my arms were too stiff."
Ryo made 3 straight bogeys from 11 and on. Bounced back a little with 2 birdies on 14 and 17, but he couldn't do so much on his back nine and ended scoring even par, tied to 42nd.
"I barely was able to keep even par. Now I have huge pressure on me for tomorrow making the cutline. But first I must make the cutline tomorrow and climb up the ladder on weekends."
Ryo has won here in 2015 and he is sponsored by ANA too. First of all, he must make it onto the weekend with a big score tomorrow.
