Mynavi ABC Championship Golf Tournament 2019
Satoshi Kodaira heads back US PGA Tour with a regained confidence as a souvenir
Satoshi started out 2 shots behind the leader in the final group. He couldn't join the seesaw game that Shugo and Jung-Gon was showing the crowd.
"I couldn't make the putts", as Satoshi recalled, he was par play for the first 6 holes. But his chance came as he made back to back birdies on 7 and 8. He got to just 1 shot behind the leader but on 12th, he had trouble shot from the deep roughs and failed to hole the 1-meter par saving putt and again got away from the contention.
Satoshi made 3 bogeys in a row start on his Round 2 but was able to bounce back with marking course record tie 62 on Round 3 to total at 13 under, got him in 3rd position on to Sunday. Satoshi being able to jump up 15 strokes deficit reminded him about the miraculous charge that Tiger made at ZOZO Championship.
After the Round 3, Satoshi said, "I owe to Tiger for giving me the never-give-up mind. I want to win this week and go back to US PGA Tour"
Satoshi was scheduled to go back to USA right after the ZOZO Championship. But he made a last-minute entry to MyNavi ABC Championship to "make sure that the rhythm I regained playing beside Tiger will sink into me."
So, Satoshi remained for additional week to challenge for his 8th Japan Tour victory. Unfortunately, Satoshi couldn't make the desirable Sunday charge to become a threat to either Shugo or Jung-Gon and ended at 3rd.
"I couldn't win, but I have gained so much from these past 2 weeks. My images on the game is really good now."
Now he heads back to Orlando Florida's home and prepare for his game in Mexico, the Mayakoba Golf Classics. He needs to gain his position for the next season.
"All I have left is to get good results in the tournament and get a stable confidence."
Satoshi is scheduled to come back to Japan Tour for the season ending "Golf Nippon Series JT Cup" in December. His fans are hoping to see if he could bring back a big souvenir, especially a victory, from USA.
