Dunlop Phoenix Tournament 2019

Yuta Ikeda closes in to his 2nd win of the season by finishing as co-leader after Round 2

The pouring rain was making it difficult for all of the players on Round 2 at Phoenix CC. But past winner from 2010 managed to play well with 3 birdie and 2 bogey to score 70, totaled at 5 under and became co-leader with Shugo Imahira.

From the effect of the Typhoon Fung-Wong, heavy rain continued to fall on the course through out the day. Wet and drenched roughs were so heavy and made it difficult for the players to calculate the distance.
"It varied more than 10 yards at some places. It was difficult today, but I am so glad that I could wrap it up by scoring under par for today."

Yuta injured his leg in September by falling down hard on the course, but he was able to play with no worries today even under tough rainy conditions,
"I fell very well, and I am all umped up too. So, the position I am at now is what I desired."

Yuta has no gear contracts, but "My 1W and 3W has always been Srixon. I am not a contracted player, but their craftsman still takes really great care of me, so I really feel gratitude to them, and this tournament sponsored by Srixon."

Yuta hasn't been able to add another victory after his win at Mizuno Open in June.
"We only have 3 tournaments left including this one. I haven't been able to succeed as I wished. I don't want to end this season with only 1 victory."
