Fujisankei Classic 2019
Shugo Imahira secretly practices aiming for the coming from behind win tomorrow
"I had difficulties with my putting today. I just couldn't get the right touch. I putt too soft and ends short for hit it too much and goes way over the hole."
Shugo was also struggling on his shots and couldn't get into the Saturday charge. But he showed his talent at 12th, as he shot 8I from 165 yards to 30cm by the pin and made an easy birdie. Shugo hung on with 3 birdies and finished with total 6 under.
Shugo has won Fuji Sankei Junior in his high school days and earned the ticket to 2008 Fuji Sankei Classic. He couldn't make the cut then, but after he became Pro, in 2016 he finished at 8th, then next year at 5th, and last year at runner-up 2nd. He has been climbing up the ladder.
"I really want to win here, came so close last year. So, I will try to get as many birdies as I could tomorrow and catch up with 7 stroke deficits."
After this talk Shugo, he left the course in hurry. According to his caddy, Shugo barely practices, but he secretly practices sometimes.
"When I am not satisfied with my image and my shots, I like to practice alone and quietly."
So, during the tournament, he goes back to his accommodation and then goes to different practice range alone. He doesn't even take his caddy with him.
"I think I will go to practice today too", said Shugo leaving the club house. All focused to get ready for the perfect coming from behind win.
