Defending Champion Shugo Imahira was able to make it to this year's Dunlop Phoenix field due to special measures taken to be in effect announced by JOC.

Shugo Imahira has finished 44T at The Masters last week. Shugo was supposed to go through 14-day coronavirus quarantine period, but special measures changed the situation. Japanese government has taken the measure to facilitate Olympic-related activities along with stringent anti-infection measures. Special measures cover the foreign and Japanese athletes certified by the JOC and the JPC who will join in international competitions - whose winners will gain the right to participate in the Games, test events, training camps and others.

Thanks to the changes, Shugo gained the chance to defend his title at prestigious event.
