Golf Nippon Series JT Cup 2020

Chan Kim jumps up as the co-leader after R2 of JT Cup with carding in 66

Chan Kim is getting ready to grab the season end victory by scoring 66 on R2 and heading into the weekends as co-leader.

Chan is known as the longest hitter in the Tour, as he was honored for the award with average of 315.83 yards last season. But he is also known for his short game technics, which was demonstrated at 8th, where he made a great chip-in birdie to make it 3 in a row.

He also made eagle on Par 5 17th, by taking advantage with his distance, he nailed the 5-meter putt and moved up as co-leader by reaching total 8 under par.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he wasn't able to come back to Japan Tour until November. His first tournament on the Tour was VISA Taiheiyo Masters where he finished at 4th, then on next Dunlop Phoenix he finished at 5T. With only 2 tournaments, he made himself sit at 12th on Money Rankings to earn the ticket to JT Cup.
"I was lucky to be able to come back to the Tour, but unfortunately most of the International players are still away."

Last season, 16 of the 30 players who made appearance at JT Cup were International players. But this year, it is only Chan Kim, Gunn Charoenkul and Todd Baek. They went together for the practice round.
"But we couldn't go for dinner together since, we live all apart in different directions. It is very sad that we must have the tournament without fans. I sincerely wish that the pandemic will come to an end next year and the tournaments will be held as it was before."

Last year, Chan was at 3T after R3, but stumbled on the Final Round with 75 and finished at 14T.
"I couldn't play as I wished last year, so I want to do my very best this year and make the victory come true."
