Fujisankei Classic 2020
Ryo Ishikawa marks the Best Score of the Day "65" makes a big leap to 6T
He did start off with a bogey today, but his momentum came soon at 3rd hole. His 2nd shot from 265 yards got to the fringe of the green, and he made 8-meter left to right line to grab eagle. Then he went on to make back to back birdies on 6&7 and 14&15, closed the round with another birdie on final 18 by holing the 3-meter.
"What I have worked on since yesterday is mainly mental. I was able to play with any interference today and I was concentrated on my play. I was able to keep my game plan well. Yesterday I got greedy on 18 and shot with 1W, but today I stayed with my game plan and chose 3W and 5I to get on the green in two. I am pretty satisfied with my strategy today."
Ryo has been having new routine from R1, making a V sign with his hands before his shots. Ryo seemed little embarrass answering this question.
"I am just doing a V sign toward the ground. It's like finding the spats with your club shafts. On R1 I wasn't feeling comfortable with my address position, but with that V sign, I reminded myself to make a comfortable address position before I make the shots. It feels very embarrassing explaining like this."
Whatever works, keep it! His V sign is getting him closer to the Victory.
"I am in very good position going into weekend, so I am excited and looking forward to it."
On Sunday afternoon, we might be able to see Ryo making the bigger V sign at the 18th green.
