"I am so glad that I could repost my victory to Hideki."
For Takumi Kanaya, Hideki Matsuyama is a hero and admiring icon from his junior days. So, this victory following a week later from the historical win by Hideki at The Masters is such a joyous satisfaction for Takumi.

Token Homemate Cup was reduced to 54-hole event and the battle was narrowed down to only 18 holes. Takumi started out as a leader with only 1 shot difference. There was some sunshine, but weather kept changing rapidly with some rain and gusty wind. This gusty wind was making players not able to stand still at times.

Takumi made the turn with 3 shot lead, but back-to-back bogies on 10th and 11th, gave the door open to super talented amateur, Keita Nakajima, as he got to only 1 shot deficit.
Takumi recalls that moment as "there were tough times, but I was able to struggle my way out."

Ryunosuke Kinoshita and Keita Nakajima, both in the same final group got caught in the water hazard on 17th, as Takumi made 1.5-meter birdie putt to give him larger breathing space and eventually grab his 2nd victory for 20-21 season.

Takumi says he has made a promise to himself right after the win at the Dunlop Phoenix last November that "I want to be elected for the Tokyo Olympics, so I want to win as many as possible and make it into the Olympic elected player."

Last weekend, Takumi cried with joy watching his college senior and his hero Hideki Matsuyama win The Masters.
"I was really overwhelmed. And I got more motivated, I must work harder to be better. I am glad that I could report this victory to Hideki."
