JAPAN PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP by Sato Shokuhin 2021

"Happy to return to play" says Korea's Hyun-Woo Ryu making a great rocket start on R1

Hyun-Woo Ryu from Korea rejoins Japan Tour from this year made a great start with 1 eagle, 6 birdies and a bogey 65 on the 1st round of inaugural Japan Players Championship.

"This tournament is built from the scratch by the Players' Committee. I am so grateful to be in this field."
Hyun-Woo Ryu couldn't come and join the Japan Tour last year due to the pandemic. He didn't have the chance to play at his home country Korea. All of the stay home was spent to care about his family.
"I had nothing to do. I was afraid of the infections, so I stayed home most of the time. I didn't go out, so I didn't get hungry, so I lost about 7kg. Now I weight 77kg. But those free times gave me to also free my mind too."

He seems to have really refreshed mentally and physically, now he is ready to enjoy golf.
"I am happy to be able to eat the delicacies I craved for and meet the friends I haven't had the chance to see. I love Japan."

He must enjoy his dishes by "to go" only, and there are so many matters to take cautions, but "I am reacknowledging that I am a professional golfer and I treasure it. It is unfortunate that every tournament so far is without spectators."

But this non spectator atmosphere might work in favor for him, as he has won against Shingo Katayama in 2012 Coca Cola Tokai Classic in the playoff and that tournament was non-spectator event due to typhoon.
