Gen Nagai made a remarkably great job on his debuting tournament. He made the 2nd hole-in-one of the week, following the one made by Seungsu Han on R2.

It was 206 yards Par 3 14th, where Gen took his 5I and "I had a good feeling on my shot but didn't expect it would get to the bottom of the hole".

Unfortunate for this tournament being non-spectator event, there were no roars, and he couldn't see in go into the cup.
"I wish I could have seen it, but since it is my first time, I am really happy."

Gen is from Kanagawa Prefecture where the tournament is held, but due to his parents' job, he learned to play golf in Philippines. He became Pro in Philippines too. He finished at 3rd in QT, but pandemic took away his chance to perform.

He came back to Japan and entered the qualifying tournament of Diamond Cup on April 5th. Gen successfully finished as the top on that qualifier and made his debut this week. He achieved to gain prize money of 50T and hole-in-one prize money of 300,000-yen from the tournament organizers, which he plans to "buy really good steak meat".

No wonder he has "Gourmet (steak)" listed as his hobby on his JGTO profile.
