Asia Pacific Diamond Cup Golf 2021
Rikuya Hoshino on 25th birthday also celebrates his PGA Championship invitation
Rikuya is currently 100th on the World Rankings and was appointed an exemption to PGA Championship. This great gift made his schedules to change quite a bit. He will fly over to USA on May 17th, next Monday, and plans not to return for a while.
"Even I returned right after the Major, I won't be able to play on the tournaments due to restriction periods. That will prevent me to challenge for the US Open qualifier on May 25 at The Royal GC. So, I have decided to challenge for my US Open qualifier in US."
Rikuya has another ambition too. If he wins this week's Asia Pacific Diamond Cup Golf, this will be his 2nd victory this year, 3rd of the prolonged 20-21 season, and 5th of his career, and this will provide him with a ticket to the British Open in July.
"I want to win this week and earn my ticket to the British Open."
Rikuya has a good stats favoring him on this week's venue Sagamihara GC. He has won the Kanto Junior here on his high school days with 5 shots margin.
"This course is very narrow and long. Greens are firm and fast. I think I was the only one who scored under par back then. I am happy to be able to play here as a professional on a great memorable course like this."
