Shota Akiyoshi became the 36th player, 42nd time on JGTO history since 1985 to mark the double-eagle on the tournament. Shota who is from local Fukuoka Prefecture finished his 2R with a bang!

"This is my first ever double-eagle. I just couldn't believe it. I never made hole-in-one yet."
It was on his final hole Par 5 9th, his 2nd shot with 4I from 204 yards to the pin found the bottom of the cup.

"I was in shock. I must drive carefully back home."
He gave his memorable ball to scorer volunteer to share his good luck.

He made a big 3 shot leap on his final hole to jump hp to 3T, just 1 shot behind the leaders. He has been away from getting into a good position going into the weekend since 2018, the year he has won his first victory and second.

Also 3 years ago, Daijiro Izumida, a 2-year junior from high school won his first victory at KBC Augusta and Shota cried with joy more than Daijiro himself did. Now, Shota believes it is his turn to win this tournament.

He moved to Fukuoka Prefecture from Kumamoto Prefecture 6 years ago. Now this is his hometown.
"I have played here at Keya GC in off seasons, and whenever I see that victory photo of Daijiro at the club house, I feel like drawing doodles on it. I want to have my photo up there this time."
