ANA Open Golf Tournament 2021
Defending Champion Yosuke Asaji's "good luck meal" is cooked by himself this year
"If you have the chance to come to Wattsu Course, you must eat this at least once."
Yosuke had the famous noodles for lunch on Wednesday's practice round day.
Yosuke had interview scheduled right after his practice round, so he asked his playing partner, Jinichiro Kozuma, "I think the interview will end in 10 minutes, so please order it for me."
"It was very unfortunate the tournament had to be cancelled due to pandemic last year, but I am glad that I was able to come back here finally to defend my title."
Wattsu Course known for white birch forest and the winds which pass through them makes this course difficult to handle.
"The tournament here is always tight race, all bundled up with few stroke differences. So, the winning strategy is simple. I must take all the chances I get and don't make bogeys. I am all motivated to challenge to defend my title this week."
Soon after the interview ended, he rushed to the restaurant and on the table was his Wattsu noodles.
Jinichiro who ordered it for Yosuke said, "just in time, it just came".
"Jinichiro, thanks a lot. The miso soup smells so great. Lots of sea weeds on top makes this noodle really special."
If this was not under pandemic situation, Hokkaido Prefecture offers so many delicacies that you must enjoy. But since you cannot go out to dine, Yosuke has been cooking on his own.
"I am a pretty good chef. I make 6 rice balls for breakfast and lunch during the tournament. I give some to my caddy too. For dinner, I go to the supermarket nearby and buy some readymade dishes and eat in my room. Sounds lonely? No, I enjoy it. I have been cooking since I was single so I am used to it. My favorite is sashimi. I am looking forward to buying sashimi this week, since Hokkaido is well known for really good seafood."
