Japan Open Golf Championship 2021
Honoring Olympian Rikuya Hoshino, Biwako CC places Olympic memorabilia gallery for the spectators
"Wow! They have really displayed them!"
He was so joyful to see his Olympic uniforms and other artifacts being displayed in the showcases. This week at the Japan Open, organizer JGA has already set the official goods stores and in one section they have laid out Olympic memorabilia gallery, and Rikuya has offered his uniforms and caps with many of players autographs and etc.
Ladies' Silver Medalist Mone Inami's goods were also displayed. Rikuya came to see the gallery just before his practice round.
"Oh, no I forgot to bring my memorable ball. It is displayed in my room's Olympic Area. Hitting the 1st tee shot at the Olympics is one is a lifetime experience. I was so nervous, but I was really relieved to see my ball finding the fairway. That moment, I felt as if my job at the Olympics was over. If the Olympics was held with the spectators, I would have been too nervous and couldn't have placed the ball on the fairway. I should have brought that ball too. If I could become a player who could have my own museum, then I will place that ball there."
Rikuya was happily reliving his memorable Olympic summer, but he is also very focused on this week's Major.
"This week is a Major tournament and I have been watching this tournament since I was a child. I really want to win this title."
Rikuya will be grouped with Defending Champion Yuki Inamori and World No.1 Amateur Keita Nakajima.
"I have the image that Yuki is always the winner here. I have also played with Keita many times and I know he swings big and accurate. He has great potential. I do have big drives too, so I hope I could have that in my advantage too."
