Shaun Norris wins Japan Open and shed tears in joy saying "National Open is special anywhere"

South Africa's Shaun Norris succeeded in keeping his lead and won by 4 shots at Japan Open. He had comfortable 6 shot lead on the final round and played safely with round of 70 to grab his 2nd Japan title.

He was having tough time dealing with the changing wind, and suffers a bogey, as Yuta Ikeda was making charge.
"When I saw the leader board at moment and recognized that Yuta was moving up really quickly."

This got Shaun to shift up his gear and answered back by making 2 birdies. He was darting the pin on 12th, and also when he made the 5-meter on 15, he made a fist pump showing that he was very confident of his victory.

Shaun has been runner-up for 2 years since 2018. Finally, he accomplished to win the Major with special treat that he renewed the best score record by 1 shot. (Former record was set by Jumbo Ozaki in 1994 with 18 under).
"It is always very special to win National Open wherever the country may be, but I am grateful that I was able to win in Japan's National Open."

Shaun is known to every straightforward with emotions, and his eyes were filled with tears of joy.

Yuta Ikeda made great charge on Sunday and scored 67 to get closer to the leader but couldn't mend 4 shot margin and finished as solo 2nd, his 3rd time on the Japan Open.

Ryosuke Kinoshita was having trouble on his Final Round but managed to score even and finished as 3T with 11 under. With this prize money he is back as No.1 on the Money Rankings.

Defending Champion Yuki Inamori finished as 7T with 9 under and his wish for 3-peat was gone Satoshi Kodaira, who was aiming for his 2nd title at this Open stumbled hard on his first 4 holes, as he made triple, double, and 2 bogeys on those holes and ended up as 11T.

Best amateur award went to senior of Tohoku Fukushi University, Ren Yonezawa finishing at 38T.
