Vantelin Tokai Classic 2021

Amateur Keita Nakajima apologized deeply about WD due to sudden back ache

World's No.1 Amateur Keita Nakajima, who became the 5th amateur to win the professional tournament on Japan Tour announced that he will be withdrawing from the Vantelin Tokai Classic, just before his start for 2R.

He says, his was suffering from unbearable lower back pain when he woke up this morning. It started to ache from Wednesday night, but he says it has gotten worse. He was standing up straight at the apologizing conference, but actually it hurt him whether he stood or sat down.

Keita works really hard on training, so he could live up to his promise to swing 1W on every hole except for the Par 3s. This promise has been going on since he has done 9 rounds in 5 days last month on his College League tournaments.

He says, he has had this back ache since he was in high school but was controlling it with care and many trainings. He was swinging 1W from the practice round at Joyo CC, where he became the 5th amateur to win the professional tournament. Too much pushing on his 21 years old body got to the point that forced him to take a break.

Keita has discussed with his university and Japan Golf Association which organizes the amateur players.
"They have understood my circumstances and advised me to take a leave just in case."

Keita went around to apologize to the sponsors and organizers of this tournament, and also to Ryo Ishikawa and Rikiya Hoshino, who were in his group.
"I am ashamed to have let the sponsor down. I am very grateful to the sponsors for giving me the invitation and placing me in such a great group. I am also very sorry that I won't be able to answer back to all of the supports given by the fans by not being able to play this week."

Keita will take necessary off time to prepare for the Japan Open coming up in 2 weeks and many of the tournaments to follow.
