Takahiro Hadachi as 1T after 1R wants to redeem his "shameful 147 yards" on Driving Contest
8 birdies made by Takahiro today was all the results from choosing shorter clubs. He was able to score his career best 64.
"But I am surprised why I was able to score 7 under today. I was pretty nervous all day until I got my 2nd shot on the 18th green."
Takahiro has been struggling since summer. He has missed the cut 2 weeks in the row, and this Miyoshi CC is known to be one of the toughest course on the Tour.
"I was prepared to have bad performance again. Well, I only kept the fairway twice, so still the content of my game is not good at all. But I tried to avoid the OB zone. Hit it safely with 300 yards. I also got my feelings back on the accuracy and length out of the roughs."
His tee shot with 8I on Par 3 16th was a tap in birdie. Then on Par 5 17th, his 3rd shot from back side over the green became a chip-in birdie with 60 degrees.
"I was able to hit it as I imagined. My putting got better after I have taken in the practice strokes into my routine. I am under pressure for making satisfying shots rather than making scores."
He is at 48th on the Money Rankings, and he needs to push harder to gain his first Tour Card.
"But my priority worries now is to get my game back."
In 2019's driving contest, which is annual event held after 3R, Takahiro made big miss shot and failed as worst with only 147 yards.
"I really want to redeem that shameful 147 yards. But first I must safely make the cutline."
He finished as Top tie along with his rival Chan Kim with 7 under, but his up most concern is to proceed to the weekends safely.
