Mikumu Horikawa couldn't accomplish to grab his 2nd victory since 2019's Japan Golf Tour Championship, but he seemed have found the way to cure his stressful yips this week.
Mikumu says, "I have been having unnecessary movements on my follow through" and had been suffering on his battle to fix his yips. He started out as co-leader with 13 under and returned with 2 birdies and 1 bogey to score 71.
He missed 1.5-meter on 13th, and 3-meter on 14th.
"I just couldn't make the birdie chances on the critical holes."
But he made great 7-meter putt on 7th, and important 2-meter par save to stay in contention at 17th and showed fist pump.
"Green felt different from yesterday and it felt hard and slippery. But I got used to the speed and I eventually learned the way to read the line well enough. I would grade my putting as 70 to 80% now. As for the troublesome yips, I think bad symptoms are getting less."
Making his best finish of the season must be the best medicine, since yips is very related to mental.
"I think I am on the right track."
His exit out of the dark yips tunnel may be very soon.
