Casio World Open Golf Tournament 2021

19 players lost their Tour Cards, including 52 years old Hiroyuki Fujita

Hiroyuki Fujita couldn't hold on to his Tour Card by getting above 65 on the Money Rankings. So, his continuous Tour Card seasons by money earnings ends at 23.

Hiroyuki entered this week at 70th on the Money List. After 2 rounds at Casio World Open, he was 2 over par and became 99T. Couldn't make the cutline and at that moment, his battle for the Tour Card by money earnings finished.

While leader Mikumu Horikawa made 7 birdies today, Hiroyuki was only able to make 3 birdies.

"I am barely keeping par play. I face much more bogey trouble rather than birdie chances. With this level of golf, I can't compete with the birdie charges made by others."

Hiroyuki says, he faced his most stressful slump this year, and went to his mentor Nobuo Serizawa for advice and asked help to his buddy Katsumasa Miyamoto, but they couldn't find the cure for him.

"My swing never lost this much of balance after I turned professional. It is first time that I couldn't find the cure. Tour Card is professional golfers medal of honor. I had privilege of being one of the top players on Japan Tour, so admitting that I have lost that crown is very sad."

Katsumasa, his buddy who was is the same group as Hiroyuki gave him a hug on final 18th.

"I was about to shed tears. It's not that I am retiring, but still, this is heartbreaking."

Hiroyuki's supporting club maker Yamaha's staff followed him outside the rope today.

"I often joke to my physical trainer to take away my pain in my heart too. It is shameful and sad that I can't show my best performance to the people who have supported me for long time. It is sad that I must make my goal set to be lower than before. But still I am told that some of the same age people are encouraged by seeing me fight, so I will try to keep on fighting."

He still has Top 25 career earnings exemptions to fall back on. Which only allows to be in use for 1 season.

"I know it will be another tough fight due to my age, but with the support from my mentor Nobuo Serizawa, I want to find my golf again and make a comeback."

19 players lost their Tour Cards after 2R as they missed the cutline. As for many of the international players, they will be offered special exemptions as they were not able to attain re-entry permit due to pandemic restrictions. The amount of the tournaments which will be provided with special exemptions will be announced later.
