Season ending tournament JT Cup' parings for 1R is booked according to the Money Rankings. Top 3 were in the final groupings, and all of them made very slow start on 1R.
No.1 Money Ranker Cham Kim finished as 4-way tie at 27th with 4 over, at the bottom of the list. He made back-to-back birdies on 4th and 5th but ended up scoring 74. His bad turning point occurred on 6th.
"I just couldn't get over the mistake I made on the 2nd shot. I lost concentration. Then I went on making mistakes. I tried to fix it but couldn't."
He had 7 bogeys, including the 2 made on last 2 holes.
"I must find the way not to place too much pressure on myself. I want to have self-confidence and focus on each and every shot."
No.2 and No.3 also stumbled ad finished as 21T with 1 over par. No.2 Ryosuke Kinoshita needs to win or be solo 2nd to become Order of Merit Champion.
"I had only satisfied shots today. My lower body was locked, and I made miss shots pulling to left. I struggled pretty hard today and had to keep my patience. From the poor performance, I am surprised I was able to score 1 over. I tried to hang on with fighting spirit. I really need to push myself harder for rest of the rounds. I want to move up as much as I could and give me the chance for the victory."
As for No.3 Takumi Kanaya, who needs to win to become Order of Merit Champion, he recalled his 1R to be "same as always, bad start".
He made 2 bogeys on his front nine and another on his back nine to score 71. This super rookie has 3 wins in this prolonged season, 1 victory as an amateur, but is known to have slow start.
"I just couldn't give myself chances. That is my weak point. I hope I could make big scores from tomorrow."
Takumi started out as 47th last week on 1R but placed himself in contention on the final round. From R2 on, the pairings will be booked according to the leader board list. Takumi is surely be making his way up as the round goes by.
