Star Rookie Yuki Furukawa marks his career best finish solo 2nd but still wants more

Yuki Furukawa is not satisfied even with his best finish as solo 2nd at the Japan Tour's Major tournament.
"I wanted to catch up to the leader Ryosuke Kinoshita, but the gap got bigger and bigger. I was really frustrated and upset."

This was 5th professional tournament for Yuki. He did lose by 5 shots, but still his best finish as solo 2nd did make enough noise to stand out in the Japan Tour.

"When I came to accept that I won't be able to win, I told myself that I must at least become 2nd for my future on the Tour."
Yuki played out his toughness and he has shown his strength towards the final holes. He went head-to-head with Ryuichi Oiwa for the battle of 2nd place. Especially on Par 3 16th, where 3,000,000-yen prize was presented for hole-in-one, Yuki recalled "I was aiming for hole-in-one as always". His tee shot with 7I almost made it to the hole. With the easy tap-in. he tied with Ryuichi Oiwa and went on to make 4-meter birdie putt on 18th to gain his solo 2nd finish.

"I was in the final group on R3, but to be in the final group on Sunday means totally different. It is win or lose. I did have pressure playing in contention. I was concentrating to win, whether this was a Major tournament or not. I am glad that I didn't get too nervous like getting cold feet."

Yuki couldn't get his hands on the winner's prize BMW nor the hole-in-one prize, but he earned 15,000,000-yen.
"Should I get myself a car? Well. My parents have been supporting me a lot, so I want to offer them some big present first."

Now, Yuki's Money Rankings jumped up to 27th.
"I know that to secure my Tour Seed, the games after the summer will mean more and I will feel more pressure than I did today. I know it will be a tough task, so I will train my heart."
