Gate Way To The Open Mizuno Open 2021

"The Gateway to The Open" Mizuno Open will "open" this week with Yuta Ikeda as Defending Champion

Yuta Ikeda as the Defending Champion, "The Gateway to The Open" Mizuno Open will start this week after being cancelled last year due to pandemic. The venue for the tournament will return to JFE Setonaikai Golf Club in Okayama Prefecture since 2017, and this will be the 8th time for this course to become as the stage. Since 1993, this tournament has been serving a great deal as official qualifying tournament for The Open.

In 2004, The Open has started to have the regional qualifying tournaments in 5 continents hosted by R&A, but this Mizuno Open has been the great jumping board for many players who want to challenge the prestigious Major game.

Every year, officials from R&A travels all the way to Mizuno Open with the Claret Jug, and it will be presented in a glass casings with lock and security guard's watch at the 1st tee box. Winner of the Mizuno Open will be presented with a very similar type of the trophy. Also, the invitation to The Open will be given to the top 2 players.

The prestigious The Open, the oldest Major tournament since 1860 was forced to be cancelled last year. This year the venue will be set at the Royal St. Jones.
