Rikuya Hoshino challenge on back-to-back victory hoping to show off his talent to younger players

Victory at last week's Kansai Open made Rikuya Hoshino's career V4 and his World Rankings jumped up from 148th to 99th. Now, Rikuya stands as 3rd from the top of the Japansese player on World Rankings following Hideki Matsuyama and Takumi Kanaya.

"I never thought I would make it into top 100, so I am joyous."

"If I could be I the field of the PGA Championship, I really want to. If I go I might have to be left out of the tournament in Japan for the restriction periods, but I want to challenge the stage on Major tournaments."

Rikuya also added, "I want to finish at least in top 10s for rest of the tournaments and win 2 or 3 more so that I can catch up with Takumi Kanaya."

Rikuya will be playing with Takumi Kanaya and, another young gun 21 years old Tomohiro Ishizaka on the first 2 rounds.
"This is the first time to have 2 younger players as my parings. I am still 24, but I will be the eldest in the group."

Last time in 2019, Rikuya was paired with Jumbo Ozaki and Isao Aoki, 2 big legends in the Japanese Golf.
"I used to be the youngest until now. I will rush to politely say hello to the senior players. I would sometimes get too nervous and be polite to the younger players too. But since last year, so many young players have become rival on the Tour. I must show that I am senior to them and grab the win to let them look up to me."
