The Crowns 2021
19 years old lefty amateur, Akira Kasahara marked 66, 4T finish for the 1st Round at Wago
"I think it was greater than I imagined."
Akira made 6 birdies and 2 bogeys including some trouble as he was literally stuck at the tree roots on 5th but managed to make the 1-meter for par.
"I was able to make up my mistakes and I also enjoyed the round with both of my playing partners being so kinds to me."
Akira has won at the Chubu Amateur Professional Championship to earn his ticket to this week's The Crowns. This is second challenge on the professional tournament, and he selected his caddy to be his younger brother, Keita.
"I was able to relax and play thanks to my brother."
Akira writes and throws balls with his right hand, but his batting and golf is left-handed. He started to play golf at age of 5, taught by his father to use his left hand effectively.
"But as I was practicing in my junior days, there were not so many lefty gears, and I had tough time practicing."
He admires Bubba Watson, a top-class lefty. Akira is only 163cm tall, but he is able to drive 300 yards easily. His strength is his distance and power shots
His first appearance on the professional tournament was RIZAP KBC Augusta in 2017.
"Professional tournament is like festivity, and so fun. I wish I could play on the professional tours in the future. It definitely became my goal."
19 years old has a distinctive vision about his future becoming a Pro.
"My goal for this was to make the cutline, but I am getting a bit greedy. I won't say I want to win but would like to finish as high as I could."
