Kenshiro Ikegami named after the hero of "Fist of the North Star" may be on the way to stardom
He left his home in Okayama Prefecture to go to Kagawa Nishi High School, which is well-known golf elite school, where Ryosuke Kinoshita also went. Then when Kenshiro moved on to Tohoku Fukushi University, Hideki Matsuyama was there a grade younger than him.
Kenshiro fought though the tough contention among the talented players in his school days and turned Pro in 2014. Now he is fighting his way on the minor Abema TV Tour to gain his Tour Card on the Regular Tour.
"I have changed my putting grip to arm lock this week, and it is working well."
As he referred, he scored 5 under for his 1R at Fukushima Open, provisionally sitting at 8T on the leader board.
"My name is obvious, it is from Kenshiro of the Fist of the North Star. My mother is big fan of that Anime, and she was determined to name a boy Kenshiro. If I was a girl, I would have been names Yuria of course. I didn't like y name first since it is named after an Anime hero in 80s. My mother loved the Anime but didn't let me read it until I got into high school. But when I read it, I became fan too and I like my name now. But I don't like getting hurt so I am not into martial arts."
