Hirotaka Ashizawa takes "local course advantage" and leaps up to 6T with JLPGA Pro on his bag
"It's only 15 minutes' drive from my house to here. I used to work as a caddy during my university days."
5th year as professional, Hirotaka is taking local course advantage in strong use, and made a good leap on 2R with 5 under performance to score 67, to finish as 6T. On his bag is Juri Matsumoto, who has passed the JLPGA Pro Test at 2nd, which was held in June.
"Since there is no tournament for her this week, I asked her to help. We are both affiliated to the Tanabe CC so, we practice together a lot. So, I am very relaxed having her on my bag and we discuss many aspects on course too."
"I actually came to take course preview since final tournament of the JLPGA Step Up Tour, Kyoto Ladies Open will be held here. I want to take in everything I could this week. I know men's golf it totally different level, but I am getting great chance to learn", said Juri.
Well, it seems that Juri is taking all the advantages she could.
Hirotaka says, she is doing a good job as a caddy but, she is having too much fun.
"At the practice range, I looked back to her and asked how my swing was, but she wasn't paying any attention to be. She was looking at Ryo Ishikawa nearby with dreamy eyes."
Juri replied, "Ryo's shots were so great, and he is so cool. I really wanted to run up to him and ask for an photo together, but I told myself I shouldn't bother his practice."
Of course, she is putting great effort as Hirotaka's caddy too.
"I am only pushing his cart for him, but I want him to do well and aim for victory or at least finish within top 10."
Hirotaka was co-leader after 2R in Japan PGA Championship but stumbled on his FR and finished at 58T.
"That time, I was feeling too aggressive and that affected my swing. So, this week I will take that experience in consideration and have Juri's support to keep my pace steady."
