Panasonic Open Golf Championship 2021

World's No.1 Amateur Keita Nakajima becomes 5th amateur to win at the professional tournament

World's No.1 Amateur, Keita Nakajima has done it! He won the Panasonic Open by a playoff to become the 5th amateur to win the professional tournament on Japan Tour following the footsteps of Massy Kuramoto, Ryo Ishikawa, Hideki Matsuyama and Takumi Kanaya.

Keita started out his Final Round from 4T, 1 stroke behind the co-leaders. He played with 5 birdies and a bogey to card in 68 and joined with Ryutaro Nagano at 18 under total to go into the playoffs.

Playoff was set on the Par 3 18th. Ryutaro Nagano made the mistake by hitting to the cliffs. Keita on the other hand got his shot near to the pin for a birdie chance. While Ryutaro made bogey, Keita safely made his winning par putt to close the deal.

Keita went into the scoring tent. While he was listening to the staff telling him the ceremony procedures, his eyes got watery. He kept on wiping of his tears as he spoke on the winner's ceremony.
"So many have supported me and encouraged me to fight hard to win. I am so glad that I was able to answer to their support with this victory. I have been shedding regretful tears on my amateur games, so I am so grateful to be shedding joyful tears today."

On 2nd is Ryutaro Nagano, Ryuichi Oiwa finished 3rd, and Azuma Yano and Shintaro Kobayashi finished as 4T.
