GOLF PARTNER PRO-AM TOURNAMENT 2021

Amateur Champion title goes to Akio Mizukami who made 8 shot margin victory

Akio Mizukami, 54 years old, made double victory on inaugural Golf Partner Pro-Am, as he won on the doubles game on East Course with score of 62, and also became the winner of the singles game on the weekend.

Akio's winning score of 6 under and runner-up was way behind with 8 shots gap. Akio played on the final groupings with Tomohiro Otsuki and Shotaro Wada.
"Surrounding atmosphere playing with the Pros on the real tournament was really tense, but it made me cling on to their performance and made me concentrated. Tomohiro Otsuki controls his shots by banging his ball against the wind. I am same type of player, so I tried to hit like him and I succeeded sometimes."

Akio made a great finish with 2 straight birdies, by making two 5-meter putts.
"I had enough breathing space with the player in 2nd place, so I was relaxed and played really well."

Akio started to play golf since he was 12 years old and played on the golf team of St. Andrew's University in Osaka Prefecture. His best score is 61. He now belongs to prestigious Takanodai CC in Chiba Prefecture, and works as businessman as well as promising amateur. He holds many amateur titles including 2019 Japan Mid-Amateur title.

"It is just a dream come true to play on the tournament with the Pros. To be in the final group is such a rare experience. The distances of the Pros are unbelievable. My 1W and their iron shot were about the same, and that depressed me a little, but it was really fun. To play with the Pros is very nerve wrecking but it is so precious and rare. I want many amateurs to challenge too. I will try to come back again next year."
