New star came into the picture today, Kaito Oonishi who just turned Pro 16 days ago. He made bogey free round with 1 eagle and 6 birdies to score 62. Totaled to 15 under and moved up to 4T, 4 shots behind the leader.

If Kaito succeeds to win this week, it will become record breaking for the fastest ever win after turning Pro, and also victory on debut tournament. But Kaito was very modest and said, "if I finish within top 10, would I be able to play next week?"

Kaito tried out for the QT in October but failed on his 1st qualify. He waited for the chance to turn Pro, but with sudden invitation from the tournament organizers made him decide to turn Pro on May 7th.

Kaito started to play golf with his grand fathers support at age of 5. Went to US to study golf at 9 years old. Then he entered IMG academy at 13 and spent 5 years training.

His current coach is Yuji Naito, but Kaito's first coach was Shigeki Maruyama, 3 times US PGA Tour winner. Shigeki's son is Kaito's buddy since junior days, and Shigeki takes good care of Kaito.
"Last summer, I was able to play with Shigeki and learned so much from him."

Kaito had MADI written on his cap today, but it is not his sponsor, it's the name of his favorite course The Madison Club, which was 3 hours drive from his home in LA. He also wore his alma mater, University of South California golf team's outfit.
"I just turned Pro, so I have no sponsors for my gears and outfits."

If he accomplishes to win on his 17th day as a Pro, love calls from the sponsors will be enormous.
